If You're An Owl...

If you're an owl and you know it hoot like this "Hoo(t), hoo(t)..."

Flap your wings (flap wings)
Blink your eyes (blink eyes and open and close hands to help mimic the movement)

Early Literacy Tip (from Librarian Lisa's Storytimes)  – Animal sounds are really fun in children’s books. Young children need to experiment and play with sounds. If you play along with them as they play with sounds you’ll help your children learn. You can read more about young children, sounds and literacy from the Center for Early Literacy Learning at http://www.earlyliteracylearning.org/cellpract_pract/toddler/PGPrac_T_SoundsGood_WM.pdf
SONG: The Ducks on the Bus

The ducks on the bus go quack quack quack!
Quack quack quack! Quack quack quack!
The ducks on the bus go quack quack quack!
All through the town!

Mother duck said Quack! Quack! Quack! (Make quack movements with hands)
But only 4 little ducks came waddling back. (Flap arms and waddle)
Repeat with 4, 3, 2, 1…
No little ducks went out one day (Flap arms and waddle)
Over the hills and far away, (Wave hand over the hill)
Mother duck said Quack! Quack! Quack! (Make quack movements with hands)

Little Ducks Song
Little ducks go quack, quack, quack

(Make hand be duck's mouth and it quacks).
And I've got lots of feathers on my back, back, back.
(Wave hands near bottom to indicate tail feathers).
And when I go down to the lake,
I wiggle and I wobble and I shake, shake, shake.
(Wobble and shake around like a duck).
And when I go to sleep at night,
(Pretend to be sleeping with hands as pillows).
I close my eyes very tight.
But in the morning when I wake,
I wiggle land I wobble and I shake, shake, shake.
